Nickelodeon has joined forces with Hasbro’s Entertainment One (eOne) to produce a new series in the franchise which became a phenomenon when it first arrived in the 80s. The series will have 26 half-hour episodes in total, and will center around a action-comedy theme with focus on family. New and old characters will star, with Autobots and Decepticons being adopted by a family, sounding like it’s been inspired by Disney’s Toy Story.
Executive producers are Ant Ward and Dale Malinowski, who previously worked on Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Nicole Dubuc, who has some experience on the franchise with Transfomers: Rescue Bots. The series will be produced by Nickelodeon Animation, whose president Ramsey Naito commented on it with the words:
As soon as I read the creative concept, which at its core is about family, I knew we absolutely had to tell this story with our good friends at eOne and Hasbro. The series will tell a reimagined story featuring both original characters and fan-favorites for a whole new generation of kids and families.
The series will make its debut on Nickelodeon in USA, before being launched internationally. There is no release date as of yet.
