Due to the outbreak and spread of the COVID-19, Diamond Comic Distributors CEO Steve Geppi announced Free Comic Book Day 2020 (FCBD) is postponed until the later summer, with no exact date given. In a statement, he said:
“The severity and timing of the impact of the COVID-19 virus can’t be predicted with any certainty, but the safety of our retailer partners and comic book fans is too important to risk. As always, we appreciate your enthusiasm for and support of the comic industry’s best event and look forward to celebrating with you later in the Summer”
FCBD would offer 47 different titles, including The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Donut The Destroyer, for absolutely free in participating shops in USA and other countries, and would appeal to all type of comic book readers, including super hero, sci-fi and manga fans.
Diamond Comic Distributors will make more information about the event public in the near future.
