New screenshots for next year’s return of System Shock

Finally! The remake of 1994’s classic System Shock game will be available in 2022. After a couple years that the crowdfunding campaign for the remake started, Nightdive Studios has partnered with Prime Matter to bring us this long-waited remake to PC and consoles.

The original System Shock game is still considered as an influential title that helped shape the narrative first person genre in the industry. It wasn’t an action shooter like Doom or Wolfenstein, it relied more on ambiental horror and telling its story through the environment. Its influence can be seen in franchises like Half-Life and BioShock.

To celebrate the partnership announcement, Nightdive Studios have just released a new batch of screenshots where we can see that the game will look awesome.

There is still no exact date for when the game will be released, but we’ll be on the lookout for it. This is another proof that 2022 will be a great year for video games.

System Shock is available to pre-order for PC and Linux via Steam, GOG and the Epic Game Store; the previously released playable demo can be found on the respective storefronts.

And that’s not everything that’s coming in the future regarding System Shock. Remember that there’s also a live-action series in the works.
