2022 so far has been a good year for Sonic the Hedgehog fans. The second live-action movie will hit theaters in April, and the next video game called Sonic Frontiers will hopefully be available by the end of the year on consoles and PC. But even though the second film has not been released, SEGA has already confirmed more plans to expand the franchise in movie theaters and on television.
It was the CEO of SEGA Corporation, Haruki Satomi, who announced in a statement that not only they have already started working on a third movie, but there will also be a live-action spin-off series of Knuckles who is voiced by Idris Elba, thanks to a partnership with Paramount.
The first Sonic the Hedgehog movie was initially criticized by fans because of the infamous original design of the character, but they were able to change the general opinion when they stuck to a more traditional and cartoony design. Thanks to that change, the movie did pretty well in theaters and it was actually one of the last releases before the lock down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The second movie looks like it will keep fans happy.
Let’s remember that a couple of weeks ago, Sonic was named as video game’s most popular character, so it’s no surprise that they are planning more content in the future.
