The rumors were true! Nintendo 64 games are coming to the Switch Online service. But that’s not all, a catalog of Genesis games will also be available with the same subscription. The only catch is that they will not be available with the current subscription price, you’ll need to buy an additional tier that will be rightfully called: “Expansion Pack”. It will launch in late October, although no cost was given.
This Expansion Pack subscription will function pretty much like the current Online service that brings us NES/Famicom and SNES/SFamicom games from time to time. It will have an initial catalog of titles available, but new games will be added with time.
The N64 announced games will be:
- Super Mario 64
- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
- Mario Tennis
- Yoshi’s Story
- Star Fox 64
- Dr. Mario 64
- Mario Kart 64
- WinBack: Covert Operations
With more games coming later like The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, Banjo-Kazooie, Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, Paper Mario, Pokémon Snap, F-Zero X, and Mario Golf.
While the first Genesis games are:
- Ristar
- Castlevania: Bloodlines
- Contra: Hard Corps
- Golden Axe
- Sonic The Hedgehog 2
- Ecco: The Dolphin
- Phantasy Star IV
- Gunstar Heroes
- Shining Force
- Shinobi III
- Streets of Rage
- Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine
- Strider
- Musha
And if that was not enough, there will also be for sale their correspondent retro-controllers for $50/each.
