The Game Boy Advance had a great catalog of games. If you had one back in the day, you probably played at least one of the following classics, like TLoZ: The Minish Cap, Metroid Fusion, Mario Kart Super Circuit, Pokémon Ruby/Emerald, Golden Sun: The Lost Age, Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, Advance Wars, or WarioWare, Inc. Those are just some of the best games we played.
After more than a decade since the console was discontinued, it will receive a brand new game thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign. The game is called Goodboy Galaxy, its gameplay will combine platforms with exploration. Their London-based developers describe the game as “kind of like Cave Story or like Metroid”.
Their goal was to print the game on GBA cartridges when it’s finished, but thanks to the support of the backers, it will also be available digitally on PC and Switch. So even if you don’t own a GBA console or player, you’ll still be able to play it.
Like I mentioned before, it had a successful Kickstarter campaign, where it raised over $100,000 with the support of more than 1,600 backers. Their original goal was to raise $25,000.
For the moment, there’s only a demo available to play. They hope to have the game finished by 2023, so we’ll just have to wait a little longer to play it.
