SMS Power!, a dedicated fan site to the 8-bit Sega consoles, have preserved something as original as a traffic safety game for the Sega Master System. The game is called Game de Check! Koutsuu Anzen and was made for educational purposes, having only a few hundred copies made and not for commercial sale.
SMS Power! got the game through an online auction, paying roughly $4,800 for it. They then collaborated with the NPO Game Preservation Society in Japan to secure the transportation of the game and its materials, while also scanning and dumping the game. But wait, there’s more! Once the ROM dump was made, SMS Power! even made a translation hack in English, so international players can enjoy the game. Speaking of the game, it contains three mini games, where players need to take the safest actions in traffic to succeed.
