When Diablo made its debut on Good Old Games (GOG) it was a surprise as this was a Blizzard game. Blizzard being the owners of their own digital store, Battle.net, letting an iconic title such as Diablo release elsewhere was certainly a different tactic. Now the expansion pack, which was originally developed by Synergistic Software and published by Sierra On-Line, is now available on GOG.com as well. Don’t worry if you bought Diablo already.
Freebie for everyone, if you buy Diablo
Hellfire is being added to your account if you already purchased Diablo on GOG.com. This is great news as it is also added to the Diablo listing in general. Thankfully GOG.com are not trying to cash in on “DLC” or as they were once known “expansion packs” by charging separately for this. As a gamer, thank you.
Stay awhile and listen (I know, cheesy)
Diablo is all about bashing in the heads of creatures that threaten a small town in the middle of nowhere. Crawl through dungeon level after dungeon level and kill creatures, collect loot, and eventually end the evil threat. That is Diablo in a nutshell.
The Hellfire expansion adds a bit more content such as new levels, items to hoard, and new creatures. Basically, everything an expansion pack should be. The story goes in a new direction versus Diablo though. You are now questing to end Na-Krul, a new evil creature wanting to make a name for themselves.
Why Diablo rocks
Diablo is based on an earlier title called Rogue. The idea behind that classic was every time you played the game would randomly create new dungeons to traverse. Diablo takes this idea and improves the graphical presentation to, at time of release, modern quality as well as improving sound effects and music. The gameplay is largely the same – move around and fight enemies, collect loot, and don’t die.
Head over to GOG.com and grab your copy of Diablo plus Hellfire today. As of this writing it is 10% off.
