Battletoads reboot gets a release date – August 20th

Coming to Steam and Xbox in just a few weeks (the actual date is in the headline in case ya missed it), the trio of frogs return with the classic beat ’em up gameplay revamped for the current generation. Developed by English Dlala Studios and published by Microsoft and Rare, the game will feature couch co-op for up to three players, where players can join an ongoing run. This time around, Rash, Zitz and Pimple have teamed up with their former nemesis, the Dark Queen, to defeat a new enemy.

The famous, or should we say infamous (?), hoverbike levels from the 8- and 16-bit era entries in the series are back, and there are even shmup stages to enjoy. Loads of comedic cutscenes with full voice overs are also included.

Battletoads originally launched for the NES back in 1991 and saw several sequels and remakes for the Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, arcade and even the Amiga CD32. Now, the series if finally back after a hiatus of a quarter of a century.
