Tempest Latest Arcade Machine to Receive Replicade Treatment

New Wave Toys have already proven they are trustworthy in getting the job done when they completed their obligations for the Replicade x Centipede machine. They are now back on Kickstarter with a campaign for their Replicade x Tempest machine and man, does this look sweet. The cool thing is, these releases are 100% licensed product, so you are supporting the creation of more stuff like this when backing these projects. Maybe we will see a Pac-Man or Asteroids Replicade machine?

The Replicade machines are less than 12 inches tall, 5.3 inches from front to back and 4.2 inches left to right. The screen is a backlit 3.5-inch LCD screen. Did I forget to mention the cabinets are made of metal and wood and feature authentic cabinet artwork? Oh yeah. This is small but just about right for bringing back memories in a functional form factor that can sit on a desk or shelf easily. Talk about a conversation starter – can you imagine the talk around the water cooler when you whip this bad boy out? I mean, seriously, it is not just a cool looking item, it is a functional cool looking item. Hard to beat that.

Replicade x Centipede in action.

New Wave Toys work to bring the actual arcade game home in their Replicade series. This is accomplished by the fact that these releases run the actual arcade ROM. They are not pulling a My Arcade move here by using the NES ROMs for arcade games (thank goodness). New Wave Toys are going the extra mile and using the actual arcade ROM. Does this cost more? Probably. Does it require better hardware in the Replicade? Probably. Is it as cool as all get out? You bet!

Okay, now to the nitty gritty. The Replicade x Tempest cabinet will feature a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery, custom made spinner nob, micro USB charging, and much more.

Got your interest yet? Head over to their Kickstarter and throw some support their way so we might see more of these in the future.

When you get a chance, let us see that man cave. I want to build one but don’t have the room myself.
